Hammer Hanging Jig - Vertical
|
Vertical Hammer Pre-Hanging Jig
Often vertical hammer replacement involves simply popping off the old hammers and installing new ones onto the original shanks. However, whenever new shanks are to be used, it is much more efficient to "pre-hang" the hammers on the shanks separately, trim the shanks to length, then glue these hammer & shank assemblies into the action. This can be done right in the piano, allowing you to do most of your hammer-to-string spacing during the gluing process just by leaning the shanks to either side as needed, rather than burning shanks, shimming flanges, etc.

This jig is made from PVC plastic and polyethylene. It includes a shank trimming guide for cutting shanks to length. After all hammers are glued up, and while they are still in the jig, the guide is aligned with the end samples and a thin handsaw is used to cut all shanks at one time. (Our 10-2410 Japanese pull stroke saw is ideal.)

Includes our comprehensive instructions, "Vertical Hammer Replacement," which includes plans for a very simple jig to bore out the original shanks for those times when you are refurbishing the original butts rather than replacing with new ones. This jig uses the same top deck (the hammer shoulder guide) as our PVC Grand Hammer Hanging Jig. So, for those who already own the current grand version or wish to purchase both jigs, specify "without top deck" for one and deduct $25.00 from the price.
Price: $148.00 complete or $121.00 without top deck
